Beginning on 31 July, 2014, an open reading group will meet weekly to read around the themes and concepts discussed by our visiting scholars. Running alongside the seminar programme, we'll be reading pieces tied to the overarching thematics of the Indexing the Human programme, and to the four focused themes of the seminar series. All scholars giving seminars for Indexing the Human will be participating in the reading group, so you will have a chance to engage personally with international, regional, and local scholars. In 2014, our visiting scholars include Peter Redfield, Saul Dubow, Keith Breckenridge, Edgar Pieterse and Suren Pillay. The first thematic series, called "Technologies of Governance and the Shape of Politics" began on 7 August with a talk by Peter Redfield from the University of North Carolina.
The website will be updated with details about the full seminar programme and reading group schedule. It should be an exciting programme so please do participate! The reading group is open to all but please do RSVP ahead of time so that we can cater accordingly!
